Position: Director of Youth Ministries

Reports to: Senior Pastor

Work Hours: Part-time/20 hours per week

The Director of Youth Ministries is responsible for developing and managing youth programs; this includes setting and implementing a vision for the Youth Program, management/development of leaders, collaborating with community organizations, and mentor leaders/students as they travel their Christian path.

Job Responsibilities (carried out by Youth Director or delegated):
  • Develop a team of passionate adult youth workers to help mentor and disciple the youth
  • Recruit and train volunteers to serve in various aspects of youth ministry and ensure adequate adult to youth ratios
  • Disciple the youth/young adults into a personal relationship with God in both large group and smaller relational environments
  • Initiate/deepen relationships with youth through school lunch, extracurricular activities,crisis support, etc.
  • Set long/short term goals that are consistent with the mission/vision/values of Resurrection
  • Work with Communication Director to ensure timely/consistent communications of events to staff, families with youth, congregation and/or community
  • Prepare and manage Youth Department budget
  • Plan/lead programs, curriculum, events and camps for rezYouth
  • Maintain positive/safe environment for youth
  • Direct“2:45@rez”,the after-school program for students who want to hang out at Resurrection after school for a few hours during the school year(12hours/week)
  • Strive to build new community connections, programs and ministries
  • Attend weekly staff and other church meetings as directed
  • Open to performing other duties as assigned by Senior Pastor on a as-needed basis
General Expectations/Qualifications:
  • Must be a follower of Jesus Christ
  • Maintains a personal relationship with Christ through regular spiritual practices(dailyquiet time, devotions, Bible study, worship services, etc.)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Exhibit a friendly, professional manner, cheerful disposition and conscientious work ethic
  • Ability to work effectively with youth, young adults, parents, diverse individuals, and teams of volunteers
  • Must embrace Wesleyan doctrine and theology
  • A Professional Certification in Youth Ministry or 3 years + of experience in the area of Youth Ministry is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, plan, develop, recruit and empower volunteers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including all forms of social media, relational skills, and computer skills
